Legal Psilocybin Facilitation in Colorado
What Is Legal Psilocybin Facilitation?
Colorado has created a legal pathway for adults to access the healing potential of psilocybin mushrooms within a safe, regulated model. This page explains what that means, how psilocybin facilitation works, and what to expect if you’re considering this work.
In 2022, Colorado voters passed the Natural Medicine Health Act (Proposition 122), establishing a legal framework for supervised psilocybin services for adults aged 21 and older. Under this model, psilocybin is accessed through licensed healing centers and guided by state-licensed psilocybin facilitators.
Psilocybin facilitation is not the same as recreational use or traditional psychotherapy. It is a client-centered process that includes screening, preparation, a supervised psilocybin session (“journey”), and integration support, all delivered within ethical guidelines.
The goal of this model is to provide intentional access to psilocybin while prioritizing safety, informed consent, and client autonomy.
Psychedelic-assisted Therapy vs. Psilocybin Facilitation
Colloquially, many people use the terms psychedelic-assisted therapy, psychedelic therapy and psilocybin facilitation interchangeably. While they look similar on the surface, they are slightly different approaches within Colorado’s legal framework.
Psychedelic-assisted therapy typically involves a licensed mental health provider who is offering psychotherapy alongside a psychedelic experience. Psilocybin facilitation, as defined under Colorado law, is different.
In non-clinical facilitation, there is no diagnosing, analyzing, or pathologizing — particularly during the psilocybin journey itself. The client is in a highly suggestible state, so the role of the facilitator is not to interfere with the experience, interpret its meaning, or direct the client toward specific insights. Instead, facilitation centers on creating a safe, therapeutic, and non-directive environment in which the client can engage with the experience as it unfolds and make meaning of it afterwards, with the support of the facilitator.
This approach is grounded in the understanding that, with appropriate preparation and support, individuals are capable of accessing their own inner wisdom with the help of the medicine. The role of the facilitator is to support that process, not to override it.
That said, psilocybin facilitation is not the same as “trip sitting.” It includes:
Preparation, where we discuss intentions, expectations, safety considerations, and readiness
The facilitated psilocybin session (“journey” or “ceremony”), held in a licensed healing center, with supportive presence, attention to safety, and mushrooms that have been tested for purity and potency
Integration, where we reflect and make meaning of the experience, and explore how the insights can be meaningfully applied to daily life
While facilitation is distinct from psychotherapy, many people choose to engage in therapy, coaching, or other supportive practices alongside this work. Preparation and integration are often where reflection, meaning-making, and practical change take shape, and some clients prefer ongoing support with their facilitator, therapist, or coach.
Psilocybin facilitation honors the intelligence of the body, the psyche, and the process itself, offering support without control, and presence without agenda.
working with a Licensed Psilocybin Facilitator Who Is Also a Nurse
Choosing a facilitator is ultimately about trust and safety.
Many clients have shared that they felt an immediate sense of safety having me present. Having a nurse by their side helped ease anxiety and allowed them to relax into the experience more fully. For many people, working with a nurse provides an added layer of reassurance, especially if you’re navigating health concerns, taking medications, or coming to this work after burnout, illness, trauma, or long periods of disconnection from your body.
Nurses are trained to remain calm, grounded, and attentive, even in emotionally charged or uncertain situations, offering a stabilizing presence that supports nervous system co-regulation. Nurses, especially board-certified holistic nurses like myself, are also trained to see people holistically: mind, body, and spirit. This perspective informs how I approach preparation, facilitation, and integration.
As your licensed psilocybin facilitator, my role is to offer a steady, supportive, non-directive presence so you can engage with your own inner wisdom, supported by the medicine and a container of safety and care.
What the process looks like
While each journey is individualized, legal psilocybin facilitation in Colorado generally includes the following phases:
Screening
We begin with a thoughtful screening to assess readiness, review health history, medications, and mental health considerations, and ensure this work is appropriate at this time.
Preparation
Preparation sessions focus on education, intention-setting, and support to help reduce anxiety and create a grounded container for the experience.
Administration Session
Sessions take place in a licensed healing center, where I provide a grounded, supportive, non-directive presence that allows the experience to unfold safely.
Integration
Integration supports reflection, meaning-making, emotional processing, and practical next steps, helping translate insights into daily life.
who this work is for
I work with clients from all walks of life, and my practice is intentionally inclusive and adaptable to each person’s unique needs. I welcome anyone seeking greater health, clarity, meaning, or personal growth, and I have particular experience supporting certain populations and challenges.
During an initial consultation, we talk through what you’re navigating, your goals, and what types of support may be appropriate and available to you. Depending on the individual, this can include integrative health and life coaching, psychedelic-related education and support, or licensed psilocybin facilitation provided within Colorado’s regulated framework. Some clients engage in coaching alone, others work with psychedelic services, and some combine approaches over time.
My role is to offer grounded, ethical, client-centered care that supports informed choice and a safe space for whole-person healing.

As a former ER nurse who served throughout the pandemic, I deeply understand the stress, trauma, burnout, moral injury, and emotional fatigue that come with caring for others in a system that takes more than it gives. I help healthcare professionals reconnect to their own health and well-being, rebuild resilience, and rediscover meaning in the work they once loved.
Likewise, with a family history of military service (my father and grandfather were veterans) and extensive experience working with VA clients and first responders, I’m familiar with the invisible wounds and chronic stress these roles carry. I offer a grounded, respectful space to process trauma, regulate the nervous system, and explore integrative pathways to healing beyond what traditional systems often provide.
-
As both a practitioner and a midlife woman myself, I help women navigate hormonal shifts, weight changes, fatigue, sleep issues, and mood fluctuations with compassion and clarity. Together we stabilize physiology, support emotional well-being, and cultivate a sense of empowerment during this life transition.
-
As a former gym owner with experience coaching clients in fitness, nutrition, and metabolic health, I help individuals shift away from restrictive dieting and toward sustainable, holistic, anti-inflammatory habits. My approach blends science, behavior change, and self-compassion to create lasting results without shame or burnout.
-
Whether it’s a career shift, relationship change, identity transformation, or an uncertain next chapter, I support clients in navigating major transitions with clarity, resilience, and grounded intuition. Together, we create space for what’s ending and what’s emerging.
-
In my work as a nurse coach for older adults, I’ve supported clients in maintaining health and vitality, cognitive function, independence, and emotional well-being. I help seniors strengthen their physical and mental health, adapt to changing needs, and feel supported in every stage of aging.
-
Drawing on my extensive experience coaching dementia patients and their families, I offer gentle, personalized support focused on quality of life, connection, preserving cognitive health, and coping with the progression of the disease. My approach is grounded in compassion, patience, and dignity for all involved.
-
Caregivers often carry the emotional, physical, and spiritual weight of another person’s needs. I help caregivers create sustainable routines, manage stress, regulate their nervous systems, and reconnect with themselves so they can continue to show up without losing their own well-being.
-
I understand the complexity of living with conditions that affect daily functioning. I spent years as a bedside nurse as well as a nurse coach in chronic pain management. I offer a holistic approach rooted in science that supports the nervous system, enhances metabolic health, reduces inflammation, improves coping and mental health, and helps clients reclaim agency over their bodies.
-
I support clients through therapeutic and evidence-informed nutrition and lifestyle guidance, mind-body practices, emotional processing, and — when appropriate — psychedelic facilitation and/or microdosing coaching. My work complements mental health care by helping clients reconnect to their bodies and spirits, regulate their nervous systems, and create a sense of internal safety and hope. The ultimate goal is to experience more joy, meaning, self-love, and connection.
I do not diagnose or treat mental health disorders, provide psychotherapy, or replace care from licensed mental health professionals. My work supports clients in creating greater self-awareness, resilience, and alignment in their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, allowing them to make space for the full emotional experience while finding grounding, meaning, and a renewed sense of purpose and direction.
-
I offer compassionate, nonjudgmental support for individuals in recovery to help them heal patterns that no longer serve them. My role is to help clients tap back into their center, strengthen their relationship with themselves, and develop new habits that support a healthy lifestyle.
-
For those seeking greater clarity, purpose, creativity, or alignment, I offer a supportive space to explore inner wisdom and consciousness, strengthen intuition, and build practices that reflect their deepest values. This is ideal for anyone feeling called to expand, evolve, or reconnect with their authentic self.

Some couples choose to engage in this experience together as a way to deepen connection, strengthen trust, and cultivate greater emotional intimacy. When approached intentionally, shared psychedelic experiences can support mutual understanding, empathy, and a renewed sense of closeness by allowing each partner to relate to themselves and one another from a more open, regulated state.
This work is not couples therapy, relationship counseling, or conflict resolution. I do not mediate disputes, process relational trauma, or provide psychotherapy. Instead, my role is to support safety, preparation, nervous system regulation, and integration within the shared experience.
Couples who are best suited for this work typically have a foundation of emotional safety, communication skills, and a shared intention for growth. The experience is not about “fixing” a relationship, but about creating space for insight, presence, and connection to unfold organically.
